James Albon’s first solo show will bring together a selection of recent woodcut prints as well as a number of drawings and watercolours in a bold, new series of pictorial art works to stir the imagination.
The work is inspired by stories and literature, some of his own writing, some from others. It is filled with characters, figures, and scenes, researched and drawn from life and then translated, developed, and exaggerated until they take on a colourful world of their own.
James is from Aboyne and has recently graduated with a First from Edinburgh college of Art.

“I want to explore the boundary between the gallery and the book, between large prints and modest book covers, between framed work that we take a step back from to take in, and tiny, lucid illustrations which we pore over. To break the strange barrier between “proper” fine art and lowly illustration.”  James Albon
